Childhood and personality formation
Dania Povar grew up in the small town of Kakhovka, which has a long history but has experienced strong Russification in recent decades. He spent his childhood in a Russian-speaking environment. Danya did not stand out among his peers: he played soccer, wore ordinary clothes that did not attract attention. In his youth, he became interested in theater, which laid the first foundations for his future career.
In high school, he started attending a theater class, where he first got a taste of the stage and self-expression. Theater taught him improvisation and the ability to feel the audience, which later became the basis of his stand-up style.
Education and moving to Kyiv
After high school, he entered the Kherson Vocational School, where he received a degree in pastry chef. It was because of this specialty that he took the stage name “Cook”.
His studies made him realize that he wanted more: in 2019, Danylo moved to Kyiv to enter the Poplavsky University of Culture and Arts, where he began studying to become a TV presenter. However, he never officially received his diploma, as the process of self-discovery led him to a different path.
While studying in Kyiv, he worked in sales, and at the same time began experimenting with his image and style, looking for his own forms of self-expression.

The beginning of his career: TikTok and stand-up
Danya shot his first popular videos on TikTok on his way home from work. Gradually gaining an audience, he formed a characteristic author’s style: short improvisational jokes, absurdity and self-irony.
At the same time, he began performing at the Wandering StandUP, one of Kyiv’s most famous stand-up clubs. His approach to humor was fundamentally different from classical standup: a minimum of scripts, a maximum of improvisation.
Danylo himself is critical of his first stand-up attempts, but considers them an important experience for his creative growth. According to him, “if you’re not ashamed of what you did a year ago, then you’re not developing.”
Artistic style and philosophy
Danil’s corporate identity is a challenge to social stereotypes:
-
Clothing: old sweaters, second-hand clothes, “unfashionable” hairstyles.
-
Image: a deliberately sloppy look that contrasts with the general idea of a “successful man”.
-
Humor: absurdity, irony over mass culture, satirical portrayal of society types.
He ridicules the culture of “successful success,” emphasizing through his appearance and behavior that a person’s true value is not in money, muscles, or brands.
Danylo’s favorite idols:
-
Charlie Chaplin
-
Jim Carrey
-
Sasha Baron Cohen
-
Rowan Atkinson
-
Andrii Danylko
The biggest influence was Eric Andre and his absurdist show.
Family circumstances.
Danylo’s hometown of Kakhovka has been under Russian occupation since 2022.
His mother supports Ukraine, sometimes comes to visit him in Kyiv, but mostly stays in the occupation, taking care of his grandparents.
His father took a different path, supporting the pro-Russian position, which led to a complete break in contact with Danylo.
He also has a brother with whom he maintains close friendships. They live together in a large duplex apartment in the center of Kyiv.
