Ruslana Ihorivna Pysanka was born to a cinematographer, Ihor Pysanka, and a communications engineer, Dina Pysanka. She had an older brother, Oleksandr, who also became a cinematographer. Since childhood, Ruslana loved art, especially theater and cinema. She often went to the set with her father and dreamed of becoming an actress. She also showed interest in music, dance, literature and drawing. She graduated from high school with honors and entered the Karpenko-Kary Kyiv State Institute of Theater Arts, Department of Television Directing.

 

Ruslana Pysanka was married twice. Her first husband was the director Oleksandr Ihnatusha, whom she met at the institute. They got married in 1989 and divorced in 1996. They had no children. Her second husband was businessman Igor Isakov, whom she met in 2011. They got married in 2012 and lived together until her death.

Ruslana Pysanka graduated from the Karpenko-Kary Kyiv State Institute of Theater Arts, where she studied television directing. She graduated in 1995 with a red diploma. During her studies, she acted in films, including in Russia, Poland and the Netherlands.She also had internships at various television agencies and channels.

Ruslana Pysanka began her career as an actress in 1991, when she played a cameo role in the movie Cruise, or the Journey of Divorce. She then starred in the short film Luck Streetcar. In 1993, she played the role of Meya in Andrei Benkendorf’s erotic comedy Several Love Stories. of Ukraine.

In 1995, she played her first leading role in the movie Moskal the Magician. From June 2003 to August 2004, she hosted the program “Country of Soviets” on the Russian TV channel NTV with Lev Novozhenov. In this program, she showed various aspects of life in Ukraine, from culture and traditions to politics and economics.She also participated in various entertainment and charity events organized by the TV channel.In 2004, she starred in the musicals Sorochinskaya Yarmarka and The Three Musketeers, in the latter she played the role of Queen Anna.In the same year, she starred in the Ukrainian film Love and Doves as Vera.
