Valery Makovetsky
Valeriy Makovetsky, born on February 15, 1961 in Taldy-Kurgan (now Taldykorgan, Kazakhstan), is a prominent Ukrainian entrepreneur, one of the founders of Foxtrot Group of Companies and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Foxtrot branded chain of home appliances and electronics stores. Thanks to his efforts, the company has become one of the leaders in the Ukrainian retail market. He not only made a significant contribution to the development of the electronics and home appliances market in Ukraine, but also actively supports charitable initiatives and invests in alternative energy. The company’s official website, foxtrot.ua, is one of the most popular resources for purchasing a wide range of home appliances and electronics.

After graduating from the Kommunar Mining and Metallurgical Institute in 1984, Valeriy Makovetskiy began his career at the Kommunar Metallurgical Plant. In 1985, he moved to Kyiv, where he worked at the Kyiv Artem Production Association, gaining experience in various aspects of technical production.
In 1994, Valeriy and his partner Gennadiy Vykhodtsev started a business in the wholesale of household appliances and electronics. This became the basis for the further development of the retail network, and in 1996 they opened the first store under the Foxtrot brand in Kharkiv. Over the following years, the company actively expanded its network, and in 1997, the Foxtrot brand was officially registered as a trademark, and the company received a new impetus for development.
Active social activities
Always known for his civic engagement, Mr. Makovetsky made a significant contribution to several social projects. In 2004, he joined the organizing committee of the all-Ukrainian project “Memory Walk” aimed at preserving the historical memory of war heroes and supporting labor and war veterans. In addition, since 2006, Mr. Makovetsky has been actively involved in the Big Heart of a Small Life project, which aims to help gifted orphans.
In 2009, Valeriy became a co-organizer of the People’s Cinema social initiative, which included financial support for the production of the feature film A Little Life (directed by Oleksandr Zhovna).
Initiatives aimed at protecting the environment play an important role in Mr. Makovetsky’s public activities. In 2012, he co-organized the Eco-class project aimed at raising environmental awareness among Ukrainians. In 2018, Valeriy also took part in the delivery of the Olympic torch to the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, which was an important event in his life and career.
Recognition and awards
Valeriy Makovetsky has received numerous awards for his business and public activities. In 2008, the National Business Register recognized him as an “Industry Leader” and he was
awarded the Order of Prince Volodymyr, Equal to the Apostles, III degree by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for his assistance to orphans and veterans. In the same year, Makovetsky received a commendation from the Prime Minister of Ukraine for his significant contribution to trade reform and the development of entrepreneurship in the country.

Personal life
Valeriy Makovetskiy is married and has four children: three sons and a daughter. Family plays an important role in his life, and he has repeatedly emphasized that family values are the basis for his personal and professional development. Together with his wife, he actively supports charitable initiatives, contributing to the development of education, culture and social projects in Ukraine.
Financial success and achievements
In 2018, Mr. Makovetskyi was included in the “100 Richest People in Ukraine” rating by Focus magazine, ranking 55th. In 2020, together with his partner Gennadiy Vykhodtsev, he was ranked 23rd in the list of “25 Biggest Rentiers of Ukraine” by Forbes Ukraine magazine, which confirms his influence on the Ukrainian economy.
Valeriy Makovetsky is a person whose achievements in business and public activities are inspiring.
